We saw this band performing at the Folk Arts Festival. The bagpipe seems to be made from an entire sheep's stomach. Note also that the neck of the mandolin-looking thing is at a 90 degree angle to the rest of the instrument. You can listen to a crappy microcassette-recorded sample of what the band sounded like. We got another sound sample, but no photo, from a group of guys who were playing a sort of pedal-steel guitar looking thing that sort of sounded like a wind instrument, but it had strings, which were vibrated by turning a crank on the side. The rate at which the crank was turned affected the timbre of the sound, and abrupt, jerky crankings achieved almost percussive effects. We had never seen anything like it. [We later found out it's called a "hurdy gurdy," which bears an unfortunate resemblance to "mamby pamby."] The sample doesn't quite do it justice, but you can hear it anyways, here.
