Track 17, a now-unused track in a nondescript train station in the Grünewald section of Berlin. This is where trainfuls of Jews departed during WWII to various concentration camps. The Germans have turned it into a memorial. Each section of the platform indicates a date, a number of Jews, and a destination. "August 12, 1942 / 100 Jews / Berlin-Theresienstadt . . . August 13, 1942 / 100 Jews / Berlin-Theresienstadt . . . " Although this night photo doesn’t show it, the platform is quite long and covers a span of a few years, in one-day increments.
