This is the original gate to the Auschwitz death camp. The German inscription reads "Work Makes You Free." (Note the irony.) I decided not to take pictures anywhere inside. After seeing Dachau two years ago, and now this, Corinne and I have decided that we are done visiting concentration camps. As we walked in, we met a man who tried to communicate to us in Polish something about how he had been there as a small boy. The validity of his claim could not be verified, but if he was telling the truth, I can only imagine what the homecoming was for him.
