One of many scenes carved into the walls in the St. Kinga Chapel, the largest and most spectacular room in the Wieliczka Salt Mine, about half an hour outside of Krakow. It’s now a museum as well as a working salt mine. Apparently, some miners with time on their hands started carving sculptures and chapels into the salt a couple of hundred years ago, and now the whole mine is on UNESCO’s list of the 12 most priceless monuments in the world.
